Anyways this week was awesome!! We picked up a new investigator and set a baptismal date with him for the 22nd of November, so week 4 of next transfer, so if all goes well! He is such an awesome kid. It's a Mom and Son - He loves it all and is soaking it all up. More updates to follow and hopefully all continues to go well!!!

From an excitement stand point that is about it. Not to much else to say.

In response to fathers email, I am freaking out a little bit so thank you for the email, it really did help a lot. I know how much you have done for me and I know how much will continue to do, so Thank you so much for all of that. My plan for school is as you know end up transferring to a school with a good business program, so I have 2 years to think about it. We will cross that bridge when I get there.  I miss you a lot and cannot wait to be able to watch sports and stuff with you!!

Mom response- I feel like something weird is going on and you have something planned. Let's make sure it isn't to crazy :) I like your counsel about not using the phone in sacrament meetings, I really do. There is a guy in our ward who is a regional manager over Vivint, covers the whole western part of the united states, and he turns his phone on Airplane mode (Can use scriptures and all of that but no txt or calls) and he keeps it like that all Sunday so no one from work can get a hold of him, then he just goes in 2 hours early on monday to address anything he needs to. Thought that was a really cool thing to do, you not going to straight up not ever use it, but use it wisely. Glad to hear all is going well and that you sound happy. :)

All in all things are going great. I am loving the missionary and the area. Transfers are a week from tomorrow so we will find out on Saturday night if I stay in Lake Forest for my last transfer or if I get moved somewhere for my last one. So we shall see. Anyways I love you both so much and thank you so much for all you do. I really do appreciate it so much!! Love you always!!

Be PrePared, Do Your Research!

September 8th

So good week, had a really fun week so it was nice.  BUT... seems like there is not to much to report...

Okay so funny story,

My peers are planning to go on a hike, I looked into it to be prepared!  That is how I was raised; BE PREPARED!  I relayed some of my concerns to the elders that were planning this 15 mile hike, and they responded with; "If you don't feel comfortable doing the long hike, we would advise you not to attend."
So that made me a little upset, but alas, I didn't go. They met at 5:45am, they had to do 1/2 hour of dirt off roading to even get to trail head (in mission cars mind you) so not good to start with, when they got to the trail head at about 6:30am, they were already 30 minutes behind schedule.
We received a text from another companionship and they said "we got there and found out we need parking permits to leave the cars and it is a 300. dollar fine if we get caught (per car) so we just are going to go on short hike."
So it's my opinion that they clearly did not do all the research they said they did, because if they did parking permits would have been one of the first things that popped up! So I felt really good about the research I'd done, I got to get normal amount of sleep, another elder and I went a different direction and had such a good mountain biking trip, so much fun, we got back to the apartment, dressed, and back to starting point, at the same time it took them to do the hike, so we for sure got the better end of the deal.
After we heard about the parking permit thing, the first thought in my head was to text the elders that advised me not to attend and say "If you need a Parking Permit, I would advise you not to attend the hike." but alas I chose not too!!!

So not to much else to make known, This is week 6 so transfer calls are on Saturday, and so by Monday  I will know if I am leaving or not, pretty sure I am staying here, so stay tuned. And Stake conference is this week and a new ward is going to be made we are pretty sure of that, so that will be awesome. It will be the 3rd new ward made in the Mission since I have been out, so the church is for sure growing out here in So Cal. 

We had a lot of member lessons this week which is always good. 

That is crazy about Zane, I am pretty sure every time he has helped us with something he has gotten hurt in some way, he probably should stop doing things for us. But glad dad found him and that all is going well. Sorry to hear about the rain, it seems like that always happens.

Oh, Brianna, wants to fly out for my homecoming, so mom you might want to talk to her about that, she emailed me and said that could be her Senior Trip, so we shall see what goes on.

Exciting news about another girl for Austin and Anona, a little frustrating though for Austin I can image!!!   That will make for lively teenage years.

Diet is going good, not insane amount of weight lose but I feel healthier, all the veggies and natural food kind of threw me under the bus the first few days of the diet as my body had to adjust but I feel way better now along with the consistent working out and multi vitamin I should at least be healthy, maybe not thin by the time I return home, but as long as I can fit into the pants I have on I will be fine. 

The ward RS Prez is going to teach me how to use  a sewing machine and how to taper a pair of pants next thursday, so hopefully I will have tapered suit and proselyting pants by the end of the week. 

Anyways, not to much else to update you on. I don't have a cable and so no pictures as of right now, but I will get you  some. Thank you so much for everything, Also, I might disinvite that no tv on sunday thing, as long as all necessary church stuff is done and all of that it s okay hahaha!!!

It's Monday - Be Happy!

Be Prepared for Anything ...

11 months ago today I entered into the MTC. my oh my! oh it does not seem like it was that long ago, time has been moving so quickly I cannot even believe it. Good and a bad thing I guess, good because well time is moving quickly, bad because well,  time is moving quickly! I just need to soak up  every minute I have learned and write it all down because there is no way I could ever remember it all.

This week was for sure better than the rest of the past couple ones. I got to keep Elder Madsen, he was originally scheduled to get transferred and I would stay with Elder Redhouse but the day before transfers we got a call to go up to the mission office and meet with President Ellis and well transfers were changed. So it has been fun working back in a regular companionship, much easier than being in a trio companionship that is for sure. 

With Thanksgiving this week there were not to many opportunities for teaching as everyone was out of town but we made the best out of the situation that we had. Thanksgiving itself was a blast. Had dinner at the Millers house that was a little awkward, nobody under the age of 80 at the party one guy was 93 so ya those are the people I hang out with on holidays, my ward is super old, not a lot of families with young kids or teenagers, lots of retired couples who just love having the elders over. Got to carve the Turkey at the Millers, because you know old people that shake holding a sharp carving knife didn't sound like to good of an idea. IT WAS TERRIBLE - hahaha!!! I must learn how to carve a turkey before I get to involved with the rest of my life, I just ended up ripping it apart piece by piece because it just was not cutting - so dad, prepare yourself and every needful thing Christmas 2014 haha! After that we headed over to the Timpke's WML, Did not eat a lot there because well, I was stuffed out of my mind. After there we headed over to Brother Carter, 83 year old guy who is WM and we love him, he is the best. Had some pie with him (Oh man, so much pie I have been in heaven)!  

After that, President Orgill and made the announcement earlier in the day that he wanted missionaries in their apartments or at a church building by 7:00 pm thanksgiving night which was weird but awesome. Thus we Watched "The Best Two Years", at the stake center with the rest of the Zone and let me just say this here and now - that movie, WAY more funny when you are a missionary haha!!! everything makes much more sense to me now.  So that was turkey day, oh and we played in the turkey bowl with the YSA ward that morning which was a blast!  Lots of people turned out so it was a really fun time, towards the end it turned into a game of rugby which as always made it even better :)  

Let's see, rest of the week there is not to much to report on for me at least. Yesterday was a good day, as always. Hung some lights for a neighbor of a member which was nice to do.

 

OHHH! I just remembered!!

 We also got to Celebrate Hanukkah with a ward member this week!  That was interesting! 

Well, that is me for the week. Yes mom I have a dinner on my birthday and there is a family in the ward where the mom has a birthday on the same day so we should be going over there sunday night after dinner so I am being taken care of.

Feb 26 The Work Moves on

Subject: It is February 26th?

Well well well, another week has gone by and my oh my it has been a fun and interesting one. 

Why does Omaha over react about all of their storms. Everytime they do that the weather is perfect. Its when they understate that becomes the issue.

Spiritualness...The investigators are starting to pick up little by little...

• Well except for last oh tuesday when we were going to have to split to hit two appointments one of the investigators told us basically I dont want Elder Sobczak to come teach me without elder Armstrong because I have been with him longer and I dont want to start anything new...So Yes...I got dumped on my mission never thought that would happen haha...
• K and her girls are still moving forward. The dad of the two younger girls has been reading Anti stuff, his girls told him to look at LDS.org which led to him being confused about what the real truth was and now wants to meet with us so he can sort everything out and see if he really wants to allow his girls to be be baptized. So that is real progress. 
• Another investigator PD is a completely solid guy and will one day be a bishop/stake president if he joins. He is an honest seeker of truth and is true and honest in all he says and asks. He has grown up all over the world, Air Force airplane load crew so he traveled a lot and just wants to know why God would allow all of his children to follow religions even when he knows  that religion wont allow them to come back. We asked the same question back after explaining a little bit and he said well i think this whole thing has to do with Agency...Yes thats awesome just wait until he starts hearing about the plan of salvation! 

Lots of planning and preparing and then more planning and preparing...

Slowly but surely the Lord is allowing my mind to be opened to the deeper doctrine so I will teach better lessons and they will be more spirit filled.

This whole mission thing is really opening up my eyes to a lot of new found truth. Its really cool to see how eevrything works together and flows back and forth and supports each other. No matter how hard people try to they can never prove us wrong on any point of the Bible/Scriptures/Gospel because if they could we wouldnt be the True Church of Jesus Christ. We may not know for sure how to show them but through diligent heart felt study we can bear testimony of our knowledge and faith which for some will be all the proof they need. 

The time is at hand for men to prepare to meet God and his Son Jesus Christ. This time is when Jesus Christ WILL appear to the world, he will meet the invited ones at Adam-Ondi-Ahman and the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints WILL hand the keys of the church over to its rightful master. We are in the last days, but I KNOW through Faith in Jesus Christ we can be saved and through Him we can come to know how to return to our Father in Heaven. 1000 years of peace will come to all. Think of that. the time period of 1013-2013 is how long the millenium will be. Christ will reign...We Will know Him...We will prevail in the fight against evil...This is the true church that is the only one authorized to show and participate in the eternal life saving ordinances for mankind.

 Be prepared but dont be scared, if you are doing the True Right not the World Right you have nothing to fear. This is my Testimony...In the name of our Lord and Savior, even the Son of our Heavenly Father Jesus Christ
