He is snugly tucked in

This entry got lost in the cloud somewhere it was written on Jan 2!

Today is bittersweet.
Amric is now available for letters ASAP!!!
He was very anxious to get on with this. Jenni told him "don't worry Amric when you get in there they will put an orange dot on you so others will just know you are new today!" Amric responded "ain't nobody stickin no dot on me"!!
What do you wanna bet - they stuck a dot on him!!!!??
We spent the 31st with Tyler, Amric was glad to see him and get to visit! Tyler gave him a bunch of ties - he knows how to pick 'em!! He gave lots of advice and shared several stories! We miss him.
We were also glad to visit with Noyes and Parker's and here story upon story! Amric said he was glad to hear the things Jenni, Maurice, Zane and Marion had to say about serving a mission.
Anona and her family shared New Year's Eve with us, what a wonderful family! We had a great great time. We played games and ate food til our faces hurt from laughing and our stomachs hurt from eating! Awesome family!
Come wed jan 2nd. Austin, Anona Sammy and felicity said goodbye. Apryl facetimed adios Elder and Marion, Zane, Jenni the nieces and porter came to see him off! He was grateful for support from family.
What a great kid with a wonderful personality I know he will bless the lives of others for the next two years and that if he is obedient and prayerful his life will be blessed for the eternities!

God bless you elder Amric Zane Sobczak!!

I'm waiting for a Reply!

A heart warming note from Elder Sobczak today...

Mother,

...It seems weird letter writing - it's like texting without immediate reply so you don't know what the other person is saying or thinking yet. HAHAHA! we will figure it out and get on a schedule!

...The MTC is good. We've had 3 devotionals so far with lots of good things said.  One thing I really liked was Elder Falabella of the 70 who said; "If you come home the same as when you left you went through your mission, the mission didn't go through you."  It really stuck out to me.  Another teacher told me;  "The days felt like an eternity, but the weeks went by in a flash." to me it helped to understand the mission time!  It'll seem like I've been gone forever but think about it, it's already been a week and it feels like 2 days.  I'll be back before you know it!

...well, I'm waiting for a reply!  (see it's weird) no reply!

...my prophecy about friends and family writing me has already come true I'm grateful you, Dad and Ayris are writing me... ya need letters!

Tell Tyler (I know he's heard it before) "the people in the church may not be perfect but the doctrine and gospel of the church is perfect."  It's something I've been reminded of especially spending time here with 18-21 year old guys!  We are still men and have our flaws!  Tyler will come around.  Just give him time to work everything out.  I worry about him and am praying for him.

I have to say I don't know why you are here if you don't want to be, it's stupid and very distracting to those of us who do want to be here.

I need scores for NFL games

tell everyone hello I'll send pictures when I l leave the MTC

xoxoxo

I'm Safe. Please Write.

Elder Sobczak and his Sister Ayris on the Day of MTC Entry Jan 2
Hello family,
So since my districts p-day is on a thursday and i arrived on a wednesday i got not pday last week which is why i did not email last week so mother do not think i hate you haha. The MTC has been going pretty well the first couple of days were a little rough and seemed to take an eternity but like everyone said once Sunday hit the days have been flying by.
My companions are pretty cool. One of them Elder Neal is from gilbert Az and into cars and stuff like that. My other companion is Elder Johnston from Bozeman Montana. He is an adventurist. he takes people out into the mountains and takes them hiking while he is dressed up in some kind of themed outfit. He told this sweet story of how he killed a bear with a sword. He is for sure a mans man. He thinks the MTC is to compact cuz he is so used to living by himself in a cabin in the woods.

I leave for the california on the 21st or 22nd of January.  The MTC has been great i can already feel myself changing a little bit. I am excited to get out into the field and serve the people of southern california. I have become good friends with these guys going to romania-Moldavia and they are awesome!!! Its awesome how fast the people can become best friends to you even though you have never met them.  Uhm you know the spirit is definitely here it just depends sometimes if i can feel it.   sometimes my people i have to spend all day with dont want to participate in anything and it makes it hard to lesson plan or get anything done. I saw some kids from omaha who i knew one is going to Ukraine been here for 10 weeks the other Slovakia been here for nine so im kinda glad im going english speaking!

Hope you are being safe love you all and miss you a lot. Ill send another letter when i get one from you guys!
Tell people to send letters and packages hahaha
Miss you all this will be fun and good experince plan is Ill only miss one christmas just so you know.
LOVE YOU ALL MISS YOU

FIrst Word from the MTC

His letter starts out "Oh MOM"  am I crying yet - OF COURSE I am!!!!

He reports that he is safe!  He will be there for 3 weeks Jan 22 is the lst day of his MTC training and he will then move to California.

Some of you might already know through my facebook wall that Elder Sobczak saw Sister Itri earlier in the week.  She served in the Omaha Nebraska mission and was in our ward when we lived in the city!  I say "in the city now", because I've been to New York!!!  Anyway back to Amric - he said they had a "freak out session in the hallway!"  He has  status' and a story that he wants me to put on facebook cuz thats who he is!!!

There is a flu bug in the MTC so no "shaking of hands" - Amric just can't understand "Missionaries that can't shake hands"!!

Missionary FYI - he informed me that everyone in his district is going to Carlsbad (his mission) his two companions are Elder Neal (from Arizona) and Elder Johnston (from Montana), they are both 19.

To his Dad he wrote - "Be kind and patient with Mom, everything she does she does because she loves you . . . She just wants you to be happy and to know she had a hand in causing you to smile."  (ahhhh Amric, yes I'm crying again!!!)  "take care of yourself Dad I give you a hard time but I love you and I know and am grateful that you take care of me. . ."

He's Set Apart

He spent the day with his best friend Brianna and he went to say good-bye to the friends from Burke.  Today was better than Christmas!  I think Christmas was tuff, no "worldly presents" the money was all spent on "the mission".  Reality has sunk in, and time running short - Christmas was brutal.

Tonight we went to the stake center to be "set apart" - a blessing to guide and bless Amric as he embarks on this next two years.

The things that stuck out to me were the comments about obedience.  The idea that he should immediately start "opening his mouth" proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Tons of blessings if he is in tune and seeking after the spirit and in the mission will follow the rules.  Also that he must communicate weekly with the parents, but he hesitated...(I'll be curious to see how he communicates) he said it was in accordance with the Mission President.  Amrics spirit is humble and anxious.

Say your prayers for him and us!!! (teehe!)  Tomorrow we are off Ayris, Amric and Us... to start brand new books not even new chapters!  Hold on to your hats!!!!
